God's Miracle
12 year old saved in Advanced Camp
Sergie had come to the camp with his mother. They had traveled on a bus with a group of young people from east Ukraine for 22 hours. The pastor that had brought the group told me he would like to talk to me about Sergie and his mother. They were from a broken home. Sergie’s mother was a schoolteacher and had been saved for 3 years. Her life was very difficult as she struggled to cope with her situation. The pastor explained that she wanted to come, and if we disagreed with her being in the camp she would return on the bus when it departed.
At first I was disturbed with the pastor for letting them come to the camp. He should have known better than to bring them. I then met with our camp directors, Br. Alosha and Sis. Julia, to discuss the problems this would cause. We began by being very stern and agreeing that they should be sent home. Then we began to reason about what we were dealing with and the great need for the mother and her son. After hearing of her desire, and thinking of their 22-hour bus ride just to come to the camp, we agreed that they could stay for the camp.
Here are the results of prayer:
Sergie’s mother was faithful to join in the hours of prayer. Sergie would also be in our gathering for prayer time. We prayed Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. On Wednesday evening I joined with those praying and seeking the Lord. I had been busy praying in the prayer services and not noticing anything around me. But this night, while I was praying, God spoke to my heart about Sergie. I arose from prayer and Sergie was standing not far from me between the seats. He was just standing with his head bowed. He had been standing for about 40 minutes hearing others all around him crying out to the Lord.
I spoke to Vadim, my interpreter, and we went to where Sergie was standing. I asked him if he was saved. He said, "No." Then I asked him if he would like to be saved. He answered, "Yes." I instructed him to ask Jesus to forgive him of his sins and come into his heart. He said he was ready to pray, and we began to pray with him. As Sergie was praying, tears began to roll down his face. The Spirit of the Lord touched his heart and life. Later, he came and stood by me on the platform as I talked to the young people, and tears were streaming down his face. He had newfound joy through knowing Jesus in forgiveness of sins.
There are results in prayer: When we talk to God in prayer, He will talk to us. When we are dedicated to prayer we are sensitive to the voice of God as he speaks to us.
